Serrated Pottery Rib in hand hammered brass.

Just like our Original Brass Rib, this serrated rib can be used in the studio to smooth, compress, burnish, scrape, and facet clay. What makes this tool different, is its ability to score and add textural finishes to pots using the serrated points. The rounded end is great for smoothing freshly turned feet and getting into those harder-to-reach spots of a curvy form. A hole in the rib helps with grip while using this tool on the wheel or whenever else a little extra hold is necessary.

Thin, yet sturdy, brass is flexible enough to smooth slabs or shape pots. The hammering done to the surface of this brass rib is not only aesthetically pleasing, it hardens the brass to withstand gentle bending as it’s used. The texture will also allow a uniquely patterned patina to develop over time — which we think makes the tool even more special.
